My name is Pastor Cordell A. Jenkins, a passionate and dedicated leader serving several congregations over a 23 year span. I grew up in Cleveland, OH and was the second oldest of four children. I raised my nieces as my own children and served as a positive force and influence for them. I feel like a proud dad when I think of how far they have come. I attended college in North Carolina at Livingstone College, and then went into the ministry in 1995 where I began a rewarding career in the service of God. The most rewarding point in my career came in 2010 when I opened Abundant Life Ministries in Toledo, Ohio.
In 2017, my morals were challenged in a way that led to a life-altering moment when I was arrested and sentenced to life in a case that was highly publicized and politicized which created a narrative that overshadowed the truth. This narrative, I believe, was fraught with misrepresentation and lacked fairness. In the face of, and despite these challenges, I choose to believe in the power of rehabilitation and the importance of second chances. I have demonstrated this belief while incarcerated having maintained clear conduct as well as completing rigorous programming such as Threshold as well as the Challenge Program. As a result of my hard work and efforts I was asked to become 1 of 10 mentors supporting over 100 other adults in custody in their personal growth and development.
With unwavering support from family and community members, I continue to work towards a brighter future. They serve as a beacon of hope during my incarceration and beyond. I have continued my passion of service in our prison chapel as well as supporting others through outside networks such as through my own website.
My commitment to law enforcement is steadfast, as I believe in the need for justice, fairness and accountability within our judicial system. My thorough re-entry plan exemplifies my dedication to reintegrating into society and serving others, even as I navigate the complexities of my current situation. I have consistently championed the message of resilience, encouraging others to never give up on what they believe and to fight for what is right.
My fight for freedom, informed by truth, fairness and integrity is not solely for myself; it is a broader call for a justice and redemption of which we are all equally deserving. This represents my greatest fight, and your support can help amplify my voice as well as my mission.
